Welcome to Tropic Isles Elementary

Hello to all Star Harbor Families! The Star Harbor before and after-school program is closed for the remainder of this school year. We are still waiting to hear word from the school district regarding our Summer Camp program.

In the meantime, if you have a balance in your account and would like us to issue a refund, please email the Director, Lisa Lombardo, at or call her at 941-315-8366. If you would like for your balance to roll over to future usage, you do not need to do anything.

All families who have a fifth grader will automatically receive a refund. All refund requests will be handled through this contact information and not through the school phone number. In order to expedite your refund, again, contact Lisa Lombardo at or call her at 941-315-8366.

Dear Parents, Students, Community,

I hope this message is finding you well.  We are in an unprecedented time.  My wish for all of you is to be healthy and safe.   We miss our students and families.

If you need to come to the school, you must call and ask permission.  You will be asked why you need to come to the school.  If it is for a Chromebook, the office staff will assist you.   For all requests that are approved, pull up on our parent drop off ramp, stay in your car and call the office (995-4704).  A staff member will assist you.

Tropic Isles is a Meals: Grab and Go Site.  We serve breakfast and lunch Monday-Friday between 9:00-11:00AM.  Just come up on our bus ramp and follow the cones.  Our Food Service Department will deliver the food right to your car.

We, as an entire school district, have a Distant Learning Continuity Plan.  You can access the plan by going to the school district’s website:  Here, you will be able to receive up to date information as it relates to school closures and covid-19 and much more.

On March 30th, we will embark on a new journey…Distant Learning.  Our teachers and staff have been preparing for this endeavor and are participating in online professional development.  They have really been Super Heroes during this time.  My hats off to all our wonderful teachers and staff!

If you are in need of a Chromebook, please call the school at 995-4704.  We will check one out for you.  We want to ensure that every student stays connected and continues to receive a quality education

Our teachers will be using Google Classroom as the platform to deliver instruction.  It is important that you are using Chrome as your web browser (if using a personal computer).  We have a Quick Link with instructions to LaunchPad on the left side of this webpage.  Teachers will be setting up each of their students in their Google Classroom.  If you are using a personal computer and are having difficulty logging on to Google Classroom, follow these directions:

In Google Classroom, teachers will post messages and assignments.  Students may be asked to view a video and complete an activity.  Students will be able to communicate with their teacher through Google Classroom.  Teachers are becoming very creative while developing instructional videos to engage their students.  We understand that some families may only have one computer with several children in the house.   Our expectation is that there will be a maximum of 30 minutes daily of online instruction for ELA, Math, Science each and at least 20 minutes of fun reading throughout the day.   Art, Music, Science Lab and PE will also include activities for children to complete throughout the week.  Teachers will have office hours to respond to emails, check-in with students, answer any questions from parents or to hold meetings.  These office hours will be on the teacher’s Google Classroom homepage.  We want you to become engaged with your child’s learning and have fun at the same time.  This is new for all of us so we will be patient and understanding.

Parents, we applaud you.  These are uncharted waters and it is impacting all of us in different ways.   I ask that you relax and stay calm.  We will get through this together.

Robert Mazzoli, Principal
