Happy New Years, Tropic Isles! I hope everyone had a relaxing, refreshing, and rejuvenating Winter Holiday. We are all set to begin our second semester of the school year. We are ready for wonderful things to happen at Tropic Isles.
Congratulations Tropic Isles Elementary. We received a “B” grade from the state of Florida. This is a monumental accomplishment for all of us. This is the first “B” we received in over 8 years. I am so very proud of everyone. We have worked so hard to increase our school grade. We have persevered through Covid and Hurricane Ian with outstanding resiliency. Congratulations.
The month of January is a busy one. We are hitting the ground running with administering our Science Benchmark Readiness progress monitoring for our 5th graders today, January 10th. Our goal is 100% of our 5th grade students tested. January 18th, our 3rd-5th grade students will be taking the FAST Progress Monitoring 2 in ELA. January 23-2 our 3rd-5th grade students will take the FAST PM 2 Math. Please ensure that your student is in school on those days ready and prepared to do their best. The results from these progress monitoring assessments helps us determine what skills we need to continue to reinforce and enrich our students to show increased student achievement.
On January 24th from 6:00-7:00PM, we will have our annual virtual event…Camp Read. Many of our teachers and staff will read to our students via Microsoft Teams in the comfort of their own homes. This is our 4th annual Camp Read. We will send out more information with a QR code to join our Teams Meeting. Please save the date and join us.
Thank you to all our families for following our arrival and dismissal procedures. For our new families, please remember to remain in your cars during arrival and dismissal. We do not allow parking to pick up your child. You may only park if you have business in the office. Remember, we start releasing students out of their cars at 8:15AM every morning. We have a staff member ready to line up all of students. The gate opens at 8:30AM. Our late bell rings at 8:55. Students are considered tardy after this point. If you are late, parents must park and walk their child into the office. Always be prepared with your ID if you are wanting to enter our campus. We start dismissal at 3:10PM. We usually bring our students inside between 3:35-3:40PM. Please be on time picking up your child every day.
I wish everyone a great start to the 2024 year! I am looking forward to a very successful start of the 3rd quarter.
Sincerely,
Rob Mazzoli, Principal
